Everybody knows the importance of water in human life. 70% of our bodies are made up of water. More than 80% of our blood is water, 75% of our brain is water and over 95% of our liver is made of water. Also, a number of body processes directly rely on water. As we have known the importance of water in our lives, we will die without it. This is what most of the people know. What you may not know is that whatever we eat brings rapid changes to our bodies and body’s pH levels. The many things that we eat can be acidic and some of it is alkaline. All of it will leave acidic waste. If we don’t get rid of it, it will accumulate over time. But, all these toxins can be removed from the body with the help of Kangen Water.

The word “Kangen” is pronounced as ‘kan-ghen’. The name kangen comes from Japanese, which means "return to the origin". The word itself helps a lot in understanding the philosophy behind kangen water as a health food. First of all, the name explains water returned to the state in which water was first found in nature before the earth became polluted. Secondly, it means that it will help to return your body to its original condition when you were young. It includes all your body organs and skin. Human body requires both acids and alkalis to properly process foods, make repairs and generally remain in good working order. If your body accumulates too much acidic substances in it, it may lead to bad health.

Kangen is not new to us. Actually, it’s been around for quite some time but it was only recent years that people in Japan rediscovered this water. They started appreciating its unbelievable advantages. Basically, Kangen Water is the electrolyzed alkaline water with marvelous deoxidizing power. This oxidized water proves helpful in fighting against many types of illness and diseases and also keep human body pH level balanced. pH basically stands for "per Hydrogen". It comes from French and means a measure of the amount of Hydrogen in a liquid. It is very important for human beings because Hydrogen fuels us and heals us. It is our most vital nutrient of the body. In short, it gives force to our life.

Kangen water is alkaline water, which is a healthier form of water with significant anti-oxidant properties. It is proved as by the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare (Japan's FDA) as a kind of medical treatment. Many doctors and hospitals use it to treat their patients and report superior results. It has its own importance in Japan since 1965. Everyday, Kangen water is rapidly changing people’s lives around the world. This water has unbelievable alkalizing, anti-oxidant, and super hydrating properties. When people take even first sip of Kangen Water, they feel the difference immediately.

Kangen water, other ionized or alkaline water products usually have smaller molecules. It means they are more readily absorbed by the body. Normal tap water or unprocessed bottled waters have bigger water molecules which usually pass through the body without reaching individual cells. If we do not take proper care of re-hydration, body cells can suffer from a form of cellular dehydration. Even they can either die too early or fail to function properly. But, Kangen water has tremendous ability to rehydrate these cells before they essentially dry out.

Actually, we get Kangen water as the result of an electrolysis process that separates ordinary water (H20) into two separate entities. We all know that water (H2O) is made up of hydrogen and oxygen. It can be ionized and split into two different parts, the hydrogen-rich and the oxygen-rich. This is possible with a process called ‘electrolysis’. Alkaline water is the hydrogen-rich part and is known to have a strong power to dissolve and soften materials. One half of the separated water becomes an acidic HO molecule and the remaining part becomes an alkaline OH molecule. We then use the alkaline OH water for drinking purposes and the acidic HO molecule for topical applications. As a result of the electrolysis process, Kangen water has small clusters of 5 to 6 water molecules. This is approximately 1/3 as compared to the regular tap water, whose cluster is usually made up from 13 to 15 molecules. The electrical charge also helps in rearranging healthy minerals, which are naturally included in your tap water. For that reason, Kangen water contains useful minerals, like Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium and Potassium. They are present in a form that can be assimilated into your body more easily. Also, this water has high ability to dissolve other substances and high tendency to soften materials. It is a good heat conductor and its boiling time is very short

It is very important to note here that this water doesn't directly "cure" illness. Instead, it helps you get rid of the root of the cause. Usually, this cause is the free radicals. Free radicals are essentially a group of very active and unbalanced oxygen molecules. They often damage vital cells in our body, including DNAs. It is the biggest cause of internal oxidation process in your body and also more than over 80% of those chronic diseases. Kangen water contains a lot of active hydrogen molecules that would bond with free radicals and then turn into water (H20) to be flushed out of your body safely. As a result, it not only tones your body from the cellular level, but also supercharges your immune system and self-healing power.

Kangen Water is helpful in fighting against a number of diseases. Many patients have reported good health and say that they can start living a healthy life. If you are suffering from abnormal gastrointestinal fermentation, chronic diarrhea, indigestion, excess gastric acid, acid reflux, arthritis, diabetes, high-blood pressure, high cholesterol, low energy, migraines, weight gain, low back pain, constipation, heart disease or even cancer, Kangen water is the ultimate solution for you. These are a few diseases to list here. In fact, Kangen water is believed to cure almost any disease

Kangen water helps slow down the aging process. It promotes weight loss. It increases the absorption of important vitamins and minerals. You will notice quick reduction in blood sugar level. Even it is good for treating gangrene of the lower limbs, which is usually caused because of diabetes. It gets rapid healing of stomach and duodenal ulcers. You will feel quick improvement in high and low blood pressure levels. This is a very convenient and easy way to lose weight. It helps improve uric acid levels in gout and improves liver function in hepatic disease, cirrhosis of liver and hepatitis. It proves helpful in improving dehydration in infants with vomiting and diarrhea caused by viral infection. It is a gift for pregnant women because it avoids emesis, smooth delivery, slight jaundice, enough lactation and ensures smooth and satisfactory growth of newborns.

There are 5 different types of Kangen water:

  • The Strong Kangen Water has pH 11 & up and is not suitable for drinking. It has tremendous cleaning power. It helps remove kitchen grease & grime. It helps remove vegetable rawness. Its thermal conduction and quick transfer of heat saves time.
  • Kangen Water with pH 8.0-10 is good for health, drinking and cooking. Specially, it is used in making tea & coffee. Its excellent extraction effect acts to soften things. Its dissolving power works great to dissolve and break down several goods. It makes everyday cooking more delicious. It is ideal for steamed cooking. It mixes well with distilled spirits such as whiskey.
  • Clean Water has pH value 7. You can use it when taking medicine or preparing baby formula.

Acidic Water has pH value 6.0-4.0. You can use it for beauty treatments. It can also be used as astringent (Skin firming). It is a good cleanser, so you can use it as regular cleanser. It is also used as water for boiling noodles and is also used in tempura batter.

Strong Acidic Water has pH value 2.7 and lower. It is not safe for drinking. It is a powerful disinfectant for germs & bacteria. Its disinfecting nature proves useful in everyday life. It is ideal for cleaning and disinfecting hands.

It is that if you are using Kangen water first time, start it with pH value 8.5 Kangen water. Drink at least of your body weight in ounces every day. Drink more Kangen water if you do physically demanding work, take part in intense athletics or deal with any sort of sickness. It will help your body to your body move towards and achieve homeostasis.

Keep this routine for two weeks and if you have not felt any disorder in these two weeks, you may choose to increase the water pH level up to the 9.0 pH setting. Keep drinking water at this setting for two more weeks successfully, which means without experiencing any discomfort. Now you can go for increasing the water pH level up to the 9.5 pH setting.

Not with all but Occasionally cleansing” symptoms are found in a few people. Usually, the cause behind it is that your body is releasing stored toxins and acidic wastes.

Cleansing symptoms may include headaches, skin eruptions, loose bowels, coughing, etc. If you are going through any of these cleansing symptoms, then you should increase the amount of water you are drinking. It will help neutralize and flush the toxins

from your system. Go back to the last pH setting if you experience these symptoms after increasing the pH of the water you are consuming.

Proteins, Quality Carbs & High Fiber Foods

PROTEINS

A great deal of research has been done that shows certain proteins are important to maintaining our health and helping us to lose weight. These studies have shown that proteins produce a greater feeling of ‘fullness’ than other nutrients such as carbohydrates and fat. People who eat a high protein breakfast are less hungry and eat less during the day than people who eat a lower protein breakfast. Nutritionists agree that people who eat lean protein throughout the day, as snacks and at meals, don’t feel as hungry and don’t eat as much. A couple of great, lean protein snacks are an apple with 1 tbsp of peanut butter, or a slice of low-fat cheese and a slice of whole wheat bread. Choosing the right protein sources are important—and some protein sources are more healthful for your body than others.

Snack Proteins

1 oz. low-fat cheese
3 hard boiled egg whites (or one hard boiled egg)
10 almonds
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 slice turkey
1 small veggie burger (2 oz patty)
1 mini can or ½ regular can of tuna
½ cup cottage cheese
3 scrambled egg whites
20 soy nuts
1/3 of a protein bar (high in calories though, so don’t eat the whole bar!)

Meal Proteins

3 oz. grilled chicken
4 oz. grilled fish (no breading or crust)
4 oz. tofu
1 large veggie burger (4-5 oz. patty)
3 oz. lean steak or pork (no ribs)
3 oz. ground turkey burger
1 can tuna fish or salmon

FIBER & QUALITY CARBS

We are all aware that fiber is good for our health, but did you know that fiber can help you lose weight? High fiber foods also make us feel fuller longer, just like lean proteins do. Studies have been done of populations of people that eat high fiber diets and the research shows a much lower rate of overweight or obese people.

Nutritionists would like us to eat 21-25 grams of fiber per day-but most of us eat only half that much! To help with foods high in fiber (a food that provides 3g or more fiber per serving is a high fiber choice), we’ve developed the following list of fruits, carbs and vegetables:

Eating Sensibly - Your Daily Calorie Burn

We know that how much we eat contributes to whether we gain or lose weight or stay the same. Calories are the way we measure the energy in foods and have been studied by scientists for years. In order to lose weight, you must take in fewer calories than the amount of energy your body burns each day.

We know we can’t eat everything in the frig and expect to lose weight, so the first step is to figure out how many calories our body needs. How many calories does your body burn each day? Not many people know this, and everyone’s burn rate differs, depending on size, gender and exercise level.

But think about it: if you don’t know how many calories your body burns every day, how do you know how much you can eat? The challenge of eating the right amount is knowing how much you need—and once you know that, you’ll be more likely to continue to shed pounds after your 9- or 30-day cleanse is completed, until you reach your goal weight. So what is your burn rate? Use the table below to estimate your body’s calorie needs:

WEIGHT

(pounds)

Non-Active

(sitting, driving, reading, typing most of the day)

Lightly Active

(walking leisurely or light exercise less than 2 hrs/wk)

Moderately Active

(brisk walking, little sitting, exercise more than 2 hrs/wk

[American Dietetic Assn Complete Food & Nutrition Guide by Roberta Larson Duyff]

Look up your weight and exercise level, and the number you find is your personal burn rate. To lose weight and inches, subtract 300 to 500 calories from that number.

PERSONAL BURN NUMBER

Now we are going to break that number down into smaller pieces, to give an idea of the right number of calories per meal or per smack, based on your personal burn rate. Looking at it in this manner is a much easier way to develop awareness, almost a sixth sense, in making sensible eating choices. Use the table below as a general guide to distributing your calories throughout the day.

CALORIES PER DAY

2 SNACKS per DAY

MEALS

1200 – 1400

100 – 200 calories each

300 calories each

1400 – 1600

100 – 200 calories each

400 – 500 calories each

1800 – 2000

400 – 530 calories each

2000 - 2200

200 – 300 calories each

550 – 600 calories each

2200 - 2400

200 – 300 calories each

600 – 650 calories each

If you are trying to eat 1600 calories per day, a good approach would be to have 2 snacks at 100 to 125 calories each, and your meals at around 400 calories each.

Rather than keeping track or counting calories exactly, it’s easy to step up your awareness of the calories in foods simply by reading labels! Flip the package over and look at the calories per serving and how big a serving is.

Also, you can choose your meals and snacks from the Sensible Foods lists we’ve provided—there are many that have calorie levels that match your target numbers on the chart above. And each day it becomes easier, almost second nature.

You’ve either done a 9-day or 30-day cleanse because your goal was start living a healthier life. Choosing healthier foods is an important step!

Filling Up But Not Filling Out!

Making Better Choices for Your “Sensible Meal

Now that you know your specific calorie burn rate (to calculate it, see “Daily Calorie Burn Rate” article), we want to share some secrets to choosing healthy foods and snacks for your “sensible meal” that will help you feel full and satisfied on your IsaShakes days, and help you stay within your calorie burn rate range. When we feel full, we eat less, without feeling hungry or getting cravings.

For example, eating protein can help you feel fuller longer. Foods high in fiber help curb your appetite, and high volume foods (foods with lots of nutrients but not a lot of calories) can also help you lose weight. There are four types of foods that help you feel full, eat less and lose inches and weight: fruit, vegetables, protein and fiber.

Research has shown that when people eat large volumes of foods that contain a lot of nutrients (vitamins, minerals and fiber) but few calories, they lose more weight. The test group in that study that ate a high volume salad before their main course ate 7% less food than the test group that did not eat a salad. If you had your choice between eating a small burger on a bun, or a plate loaded with roasted chicken, string beans, sliced fruit and a side salad, which would you pick? I know I’d pick the second choice, and I’d lose more weight than the person who chose the small burger!

Our stomach knows how much volume we eat, and we feel fuller when we eat high volume foods. Here are some breakfast, lunch and dinner samples of low volume meal choices on the left, and high volume meal choices on the right—more food for fewer calories!

Tips For Eating Sensibly

Develop Calorie Awareness. You can learn to do this quickly simply by checking the back labels on food packages for the number of servings and the calories per serving. Calorie awareness means you don't have to count calories because you'll know how to choose foods that are within your burn rate goals and needs. It's a simple method you can use the rest of your life to give you the freedom of choosing (and eating) your menu.

What you drink has an impact on how full you feel, and nothing does the job better than water . (Please see our separate article on water—and how important it is to your general health and well-being.)

When you do choose something other than water, don't overlook the calories that you drink . Sodas, juices, alcoholic beverages and coffee drinks contain a lot of calories. Blended coffee drinks and ice-blended juice drinks can have more than 1200 calories! A Tufts University study showed that 2/3 of the Americans in that study drank enough soda and/or sweet drinks to provide more of their daily calories than food did!

Keep tempting foods out of sight and inconvenient to get to at work. A Cornell University study of women office workers showed that if bowls of chocolate kisses were kept in clearly visible open locations, the women ate 2.2 more candies than when the dishes were covered and placed 6 ½ feet away. Now 2.2 candies doesn't seem like a lot but that's 275 extra calories per 5-day work week. And it does add up!

Don't leave candy, cake & high calorie foods out in your home . If you need to have them on hand for special occasions, put them out of sight until your guests arrive.

Use smaller plates, put food on the plates and then serve the meals . A study published in University Research showed that when more food is put on people's plates, they eat more. The message? When we see more, we eat more. If it's convenient to reach or get to, or if it goes on our plate, then we eat more.

Want to be less tempted and more successful?

Try to avoid surrounding yourself with foods that are too tempting and don't support your goals.

Go to your frig and your pantry and throw away the foods that you over-eat when you're stressed or bored, the foods you know are unhealthy choices!

Don't buy foods that are too tempting: if it's not in your cart, it's not on the check-out counter, it's not in your home, and it's not in your mouth!
